Dr. Mark G. Belcik, Associate Dean

Mark G. Belcik is in his third year as Associate Dean and Associate Professor of Music at Oklahoma City University. He holds degrees in Music Education from The University of Michigan, a Master’s in Horn Performance from The University of Oklahoma and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Instrumental Conducting from The University of Texas at Austin.

Prior to his appointment at OCU, Dr. Belcik served as Assistant State Director of Music for the University Interscholastic League (UIL) in Texas. Dr. Belcik has also served as Assistant Director of Bands at The University of Texas at Austin where his responsibilities included working with the Longhorn Marching Band, conducting the Symphony Band and teaching academic classes in conducting and music education . Dr. Belcik also held the position of Director of Bands at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia. His high school bands have received national recognition, have won sweepstakes awards in Oklahoma and Colorado, and his Ardmore High School Band was chosen as "The Outstanding Music Program" in the state of Oklahoma.

Dr. Belcik is an active clinician and guest conductor. He has conducted Honor Bands in several states and has presented clinics at State, Regional and National Conventions. Dr. Belcik is a member of the College Band Directors National Association, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Phi Kappa Lambda, Kappa Kappa Psi, Tau Beta Sigma and Phi Mu Alpha.
